Scope: IBM Ported Tools for z/OS Upgrade from V1.2.0 to v1.3.0.

Summary: IBM Ported Tools for z/OS is a program product designed to deliver tools and applications for the z/OS platform. These applications have been modified to operate within the z/OS environment.

The following applications are available as part of IBM Ported Tools for z/OS:
Base Components:
OpenSSH
xvfb
Optional Features:
IBM HTTP Server 7.0 (carried forward from 1.2.0)
IBM HTTP Server 8.5



Justification: IBM Ported Tools for z/OS is upgrading from 1.2.0 to 1.3.0. This will improve performance and make it more consistent with OpenSSH standards.

Benefits to Users: Open standards consistency across platforms, and improved performance. OpenSSH provides secure encryption for both remote login to the z/OS shell and remote file transfer. The following are some of the utilities that it includes:

- ssh, a client program for logging into a z/OS shell. It is an alternative to rlogin.
- scp for copying files between networks. It is an alternative to rcp.
- sftp for file transfers over an encrypted ssh transport. It is an interactive file transfer program similar to ftp.
- sshd, a daemon program for ssh that listens for connections from clients.
