From service refresh 4 onwards, the SDK uses the Oracle implementation of the java.util.* package, including all classes within the package. Earlier Refreshes of the SDK used customized versions of the Harmony class libraries. This change establishes a common implementation point for the java.util.* package, enabling consistent performance and behavior characteristics across Java implementations. In general, this change provides better performance compared to earlier implementation. However, it is recommended that sufficient application testing be performed prior to migrating to service refresh 4, to ensure no negative impact.
DYIPC1D has three different versions of Java installed on it. Those being version 5.0.0, version 6.0.1, and version 7.0.0. This maintenance is for version 7.0.0 only. There are no impacts to the other two versions of JAVA on the DYIPC1D system. To test this maintenance prior to it being the default for version 7.0.0 point your java activity to mount point: /usr/lpp/java1/ This mount point is to be used for testing only.
