Scope: IBM Ported Tools for z/OS product (5655-M23) is planned to be upgraded to Version 1 Release 2.

Effective Date: Rollout will begin 07/01/2011. The upgrade will be included in the z/OS V1.11 PACKBLD package V1BF and will be impemented in subsequent MVS Maintenance window IPL's beginning 07/01/2011.

Group Name: National MVS SOFTWARE support team

Affected Locations: National MVS Systems in Auburn, Charlotte, Plano, and Sacramento

Summary: The IBM Ported Tools for z/OS product (5655-M23) is planned to be upgraded to Version 1 Release 2 in a future z/OS 1.11 PACKBLD package, currently targeted for PACKBLD V1BF. Sites and their users should assess the changes introduced with this upgrade and begin planning now for any product configuration and/or application changes that will be required before implementing the upgrade.

Details:
IBM Ported Tools for z/OS Vesion 1 Release 2: OpenSSH has been upgraded to these Open Source Software releases, resulting in changes to various commands, messages, and configuration files:
o OpenSSH 5.0p1
o OpenSSL 0.9.8k
o zlib 1.2.3

The upgrade introduces numerous changes to commands, messages, and configuration files that may require product configuration and/or application changes to avoid processing errors or failures. In addition, this upgrade introduces several enhancements that sites should consider for exploitation in their environment.
