Scope: CA-Dispatch Users and Administrators on the complexes listed in the Affected Locations section below.
Effective Date: For each complex, a RFC will be created in Service Center supporting the change. The effective date for each complex will be the Scheduled Implementation Date detailed in the complex’s RFC for the CA-Dispatch Upgrade.
Group Name: US Mainframe - MVS
Affected Locations: DYIPC1A, DYIPC1B, DYIPC1C, PLIPC3E, IPSYSA, IPTEST1, TRDNN1A
Summary: Upgrade CA-Dispatch Version 5.1 and CA-Dispatch Version 6.0 to CA-Dispatch Version 11.0
Justification: To upgrade to a current level of supported software by Computer Associates. CA-Dispatch Version 5.1 and Version 6 end of service was in December 2009.
Benefits to Users: Benefits to Users: The users of CA-Dispatch will be able to exploit the new features introduced in version 11. For a detailed list of all the new features, refer to the “Unicenter CA-Dispatch Output Management Release Summary R11 SP1”.
Details: Since this is a large and complex upgrade from V5.1 or V6.0 to V11, we highly recommend the users and administrators of CA-Dispatch test during the upgrade window. We will require the account to validate the upgrade during the upgrade window to ensure CA-Dispatch is working as designed.. Once we start processing production data through the upgraded CA-Dispatch, we will not be able to revert back to V5.1 without losing the data that was processed under the upgraded CA-Dispatch. This upgrade will require a large maintenance window because this upgrade requires the CA-Dispatch database to be converted from version 5 or 6 to version 11. Depending upon the size of your database and how much data is maintained in the database will determine how long the upgrade will take. Only rough estimates will be given. A 12 hour window will be requested with CA-Dispatch being unavailable until after CA-Dispatch has been validated and we proceed to process production data through CA-Dispatch.
Not only is the product upgrade going to introduce change in how the product functions and operates, but HP will be standardizing several areas of the product to make it easier to maintain. We will be standardizing the dataset names, the DASD placement of the database, the DASD volume names, the CA-Dispatch daily batch maintenance jobs, and the automation of the product with regard to how operations starts, stops, and monitors CA-Dispatch. Several new started tasks will be introduced. There will be no more external distribution tasks with Version 11 and the archive and extract task can only be external tasks with V11.
For systems that utilize CA-Dispatch Internal Security (systems TRDNN1A and PLIPC3E), if your CA-Dispatch userid is the same as your TSO or VTAM userid; then, you will NOT be prompted to reenter your password when signing onto CA-Dispatch since you were already authenticated by either TSO or your VTAM netmenu.
Note: The Status Area database (Option 4 STATUS) will not be converted. The Status Area will be initialized; therefore, the Status information for jobs before the upgrade will not be listed in the database after the upgrade. A flat file will be created with the Status information prior to the upgrade so that we can retain this information.
