Scope: All HP ES users using the PKWARE software (PKZIP and SecureZIP) in the Mainframe Environment

Summary: As part of the ITO Transformation, we have the PKWARE Decommission project. We are going to replace the PKWARE products PKZIP and SecureZIP with the ZIP390 product from DATA21. The DATA21 software can do the same compression and encryption that the PKWARE software does.
Justification: We are doing this because the vendor charges for the DATA21 software cost can be less than the PKWARE software costs. The actual cost savings can be obtained from Software Asset Management for your PKWARE products in your environment.
Benefits to Users: Cost Savings
Details: The Data21 Vendor tells us that the conversion is simple. Just remove the PKWARE software and install the DATA21 software. DATA21 software uses the same program names as the PKWARE software. And can use the same control statements as the PKWARE software.
Our plan is to install the DATA21 software in a ‘test’ loadlib and let you test your jobs and control statements for 30 - 90 days and verify that your jobs and control statements will work with the new software. At the end of the testing periods, we remove the PKWARE software and install the DATA21 software in its place.
To help you in deriving what jobs may be affected by the change, we have a report that can be run, that will scan the SMF data and list the jobs using the PKWARE software
