Scope: The SYSLOG from systems CLIPC1P(PRD2) and CLIPC2P (DEV1) will now be available only through the SIS (Syslog Interval Scanner) software. Syslog will no longer be available in the SP.PRD2.SYSLOG.gdg and SP.DEV1.SYSLOG.gdg datasets. SIS is being installed to provide a common supported Syslog retrieval tool across the TOPS systems and eliminate the use of non-audit compliant methods previous used to capture the system log information.
Effective Date: April 8, 2012
Group Name: National MVS Software Support Team
Affected Locations: TOPS Markets - CLIPC1P(PRD2) / CLIPC2P (DEV1)
Summary: The SYSLOG from systems CLIPC1P(PRD2) and CLIPC2P (DEV1) will now be available only through the SIS (Syslog Interval Scanner) software. Syslog will no longer be available in the SP.PRD2.SYSLOG.gdg and SP.DEV1.SYSLOG.gdg datasets.
Justification: SIS is being installed to provide a common supported Syslog retrieval tool across the TOPS systems and eliminate the use of non-audit compliant methods previous used to capture the system log information.
Benefits to Users: User can now use a standard Syslog retrieval tool that is used on many of the HP mainframe complexes. SIS provides the user with the ability to select and search for portions of the syslog that are of interest or relevance. SYSLOG older than 3 days will automatically be HMIGRATED to free up DASD space
Details: Beginning Sunday, April 8, 2012, the SYSLOG from Systems PRD2 (CLIPC1P) and DEV1 (CLIPC2P) will be available only through the SIS (Syslog Interval Scanner) software. SIS is available as option SS on the HP E panel in ISPF or can be invoke via the SISCSCAN command from the TSO option #6 in ISPF.
Syslog will no longer be available in ISPF option 3.4, after Sunday, April 8,2012. Syslog has been written to both products since March 1, 2012 to provide a 30 day history.
