Scope: Remove unused CASPOOL Printers Effective Date: Jan 24, 2012 - ongoing Group Name: GM - GSC35 Mainframe Operations Affected Locations: PLIPC1A, AHIPC1N, PLIPC4B, PLIPC1B
Justification: Increased CPU resources and preparation for mainframe complex merge
Details: There is an SMC directive to clean up any spool printers that are not being used so we can alleviate incidents. To accomplish this, we need each application to review any and all lists of printers identified as not in use for 31 days, and submit an NCR form to have those that qualify deleted. If the printer is needed, than send an email to Kellie.wilson@hp.com with the business reason as to why. These cannot be deleted centrally since we are not aware of each printer’s function and do not want to remove a needed printer. These printers can be commented out and if needed the process to comment them back in will take less than five minutes to prevent an incident. You may need to consult old IP tables since some of these printers have been in place for years. You may also need to consult the JCL of your batch jobs to see if these printers are assigned there.
