 Usercomm Number: 2012 - 1
  Usercomm - CA-1 V12.6 Upgrade    hits: 405
Posted by Reserved:

Scope:
CA-1 software will be upgraded from version 11.5 to version 12.6 on all HP mainframe systems supported by the National MVS Software Support Team. CA-1 provides absolute protection against the inadvertent destruction of tape files. Additional capabilities enhance tape library management and allow for maximum ease of tape operation with minimal manual intervention.

Effective Date:
For each complex, a change record will be created in Service Center to support the change and to indicate the proposed implementation date for CA-1 V12.6. The RFC will be scheduled for the MVS Maintenance Window IPLS.

Summary:
CA-1 software will be upgraded from version 11.5 to version 12.6 on all HP mainframe systems supported by the National MVS Software Support Team.

Justification:
The upgrade maintains a current level of software supported by the vendor.

Benefits to Users:
Maintain software currency.

Details:
CA-1 software will be upgraded from version 11.5 to version 12.6 on all HP mainframe systems supported by the National MVS Software Support Team.

With the upgrade, some of the datasets names will be changing.

SYS2.CA1.CAISRC will be separated into the following multiple datasets. Please review the User Actions below. Note the User Action is also applicable if referencing SYS3.CA1.CAISRC.
SYS2.CA1.CTAPSRC
SYS2.CA1.CTAPEARL
SYS2.CA1.CTAPECPB
SYS2.CA1.CTAPEZTM
SYS2.CA1.CTAPEZTR

Users must take the following actions:

1) Product Administrators and those generating CA 1 reports need to
review all batch jobs for references to the following data sets:

SYS3.CA1.PPOPTION
SYS2.CA1.CAISRC or SYS3.CA1.CAISRC

a.. For SYS3.CA1.PPOPTION: Change all occurrences to SYS3.CA1.CTAPOPTN

b. For SYS2.CA1.CAISRC or SYS3.CA1.CAISRC:

• If running EARL and SYS2.CA1.CAISRC or SYS3.CA1.CAISRC is referenced via a EARLLIB DD then change data set name to SYS2.CA1.CTAPECPB ( Copybooks )
Otherwise change data set name to SYS2.CA1.CTAPEARL ( Source Code )

• If running Easytrieve and SYS2.CA1.CAISRC or SYS3.CA1.CAISRC is referenced via a PANDD DD change data set name to SYS2.CA1.CTAPEZTM ( Copybooks )
Otherwise change data set name to SYS2.CA1.CTAPEZTR ( Source Code )

In preparation for the CA-1 V12.6 rollout, these CA-1 V12.6 datasets have been created on all complexes and are at CA-1 V11.5 level.

SYS2.CA1.CTAPEARL
SYS2.CA1.CTAPECPB
SYS2.CA1.CTAPEZTM
SYS2.CA1.CTAPEZTR
SYS3.CA1.CTAPOPTN

Users MUST convert any batch jobs by making the changes outlines above now. At the time of the CA-1 V12.6 upgrade, these datasets will be replaced with a CA-1 V12.6 version. Users must complete their JCL change prior to the upgrades for the old datasets names will be deleted the day after the upgrade. If users do not make the appropriate JCL changes, users can expect JCL errors in batch jobs that reference the old v11.5 datasets.

2) The TSSPPDSE module will be dropped from the following Complexes:

CHIPC1A DYIPC1B PLIPC3C PLIPC3E SAIPC1A

Users will need to use the CA-1 utility CTSDEU. The CA-1 v5.2 TSSPPDSE Data Erase Utility is very old and had been carried forward beforehand. The CTSDEU Data Erase now has all the flexibility previously provided in the TSSPPDSE utility. For additional information on the CTSDEU utility see the CA-1 Tape Management Utilities and Reports Reference Guide.
