Scope: Plano, Auburn Hills, Charlotte, Sacramento, Tulsa, Nissan and Con-Way complexes. Effective Date: Phased roll-out during 2012 Group Name: U.S. Leveraged Software Capability CICS Affected Locations: Plano, Auburn Hills, Charlotte, Sacramento, Tulsa, Nissan and Con-Way complexes.
Summary: During 2012, numerous existing methods of requesting configuration changes for CICS regions will be replaced with one common tool.
Justification: To provide a consistent, standardized method for requesting changes across all complexes, which should reduce the need for CICS Support to contact change requestors to clarify requests and allow for more efficient implementation of requested changes.
Benefits to Users: The new tool provides immediate validation of many request parameters and ensures consistency of input to the CICS Support team. Change requestors who work on several complexes currently have to learn several significantly different methods for submitting their requests. That task will be made simpler through use of a common request tool.
Details: A number of different tools for requesting CICS changes are currently in use across the various IPC’s. The existing tools are often mainframe-based, generally quite old, vary significantly from each other and are difficult to maintain. The differences between them make multiple-complex-support more challenging for both applications support groups and the leveraged CICS Support team. A new request tool has been developed using Microsoft Excel to provide a single means of communicating CICS change requests to CICS Support. Specifics of CICS change requests should be entered into the new Excel-based tool and the resulting Excel workbook should then be attached to an appropriate Service Center “IMAC Line Item” (Z_SW_TDS_CICS) or Service Manager “Service Request” (N-REQSSP-MFM-SW-TDS-CICS) and directed to the CICS team.
