Summary:
Currently, most EDS locations are running IMS V10.1 AB00 Maintenance. This user communication provides planning information for sites in preparation for the IMS V10.1/AE00 maintenance.
This maintenance contains compatibility PTFs for IMS V12.. GA date to be announced.
Justification:
IMS V10.1/AE00 maintenance will allow EDS to maintain the current level of technology. This maintenance OFFERS features such as:
*TPNAME will no longer be padded with blanks up to a length of 64 bytes. If any program that expect a 64 byte padded TPNAME, then will need to change them before this maintenance is applied.
*DISABLING DBRC CALLS FOR HALDB VERSION VERIFICATION
*Add USERID to audit trail log record for DRD and CSL
*ODBA CIMS CONNECT
*Allow program switches in an APPC/OTMA Shared Queues Environment to be executed without affinity.
*SUPERMEMBER SUPPORT FOR RESUME TPIPE AUTO OPTION
*OTMA/ICON MESSAGE FLOOD MONITORING
*Enhancement to RACF mixed case passwords
*Remove EWLM Support
*DL/I INQY Call Enhancement
*DBRC support for the new DRF functions to recover using just the last batch type image copy or the latest PITCA
*Automatic signon WITH THE LTERM NAME AS USERID FOR STATIC TERMINALS WHEN AUTOSIGN SPECIFIED
*Change OTMA CM1 timeout from minutes to seconds
*Persistent JVM support in MPP,BMP,IFP regions
*New parms ENVIRON & JVMOPMAS have been added to the MSGJCL and DBFIFP procedures.
*Activate the OTMA transaction expiration function from the OTMA client side so that IMS can avoid processing transactions whose response is no longer needed.
*Delay ACK on RESUME TPIPE Auto
*RLSE DL/I call to release all locks
*Provides the framework for allow changing certain IMS parameters dynamically.
*New option to the Database Resource Adapter (DRA) Thread Function PREP request : PAPLSDPL Set this bit on to indicate to IMS that this thread is part of a distributed unit of work.
*MAXTP= A three- to five-digit decimal integer between 200 and 99999. It indicates the maximum number of TPIPEs for this member that can be created
*Parallel Migration migrate non HALD FF to HALDB
*Sync Callout Enhancement
PTF fix:
*Incorrect Record search argument values were being returned to key feedback area during insert processing of GSAM records that span blocks. This occurs because the zone bit in the rsa was removed in v10. RSA format changed from TTRZ to TTTR to accommodate large format ds greater than 64000 tracks.
Benefits to Users:
This information is being communicated to ensure planning occurs and all prerequisites are addressed for a smooth and timely transition.
IMS Capabilities will test this upgrade on a 'sandbox' systems first to verify the installation and to make sure the IMS system starts and is operational. The upgrade will then be applied to the development regions where accounts should verify their applications are still functioning properly. After the application teams complete their testing, the software will be installed in production. The accounts should then verify their applications are still functioning properly in the production environment.
Details:
*Early Code SVC need to be applied prior to or with this maintenance.
*COLD start will be performed during the maintenance installation.
*Maintenance will be applied to all IMS in Data Sharing or IMPLEX environments at the same time.
*Accounts are responsible for verifying any Account owned and maintained software is compatible with IMS V10.1 AE00 maintenance requirements.
*HP supported subproducts may require maintenance. The product maintenance should be done in advance of the IMS V10 AE00 Maintenance.
