This includes both dedicated and shared equipment. Examples: MIP Upgrade Additional hardware features not currently subscribed for (ZIIP engines or other features) Additional annual exercise time requirements outside of subscribed allocation Technology refresh requiring newer models, etc.
Justification: Ability to recover HP clients in the event of a disaster, mitigate issues encountered in annual exercises
Benefits to Users: Ability to recover business applications in the event of a disaster within the Recovery Time Objective Ensure sufficient capacity and performance Less confusion and effort at time of disaster or DR exercise
Details: As part of standard Change Control processes and projects initiated by accounts utilizing mainframe resources, changes to the Disaster Recovery subscription (contract or Memorandum of Understanding) with HPCS Littleton recovery site should be upgraded if necessary. When an account adds capacity or features that are not subscribed for in Littleton they run the risk of not being able to recover their clients business within the contracted Recovery Time Objective (RTO), or may suffer from reduced performance.
If a mainframe account utilizes the HPCS ITSCM service (dedicated ITSCM planner assigned), they should ensure the ITSCM lead is aware of any upgrades so that contract changes can be affected.
If a mainframe account utilizes the DRC Services service (annual exercise management only), the account is responsible to initiate subscription changes between the account and the Littleton recovery center.
Accounts should consider any contract requirements related to Disaster Recovery and adjust if necessary to ensure sufficient capacity and features in the event of a disaster.
If an account is unsure if any given change will necessarily require a contract upgrade, they should contact the Littleton delivery team at the addresses below to look at their individual subscription.
